Senior Buyer
Job description
A market leading engineering organisation are seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis to work at their site in Norfolk.
Working in a complex manufacturing environment the Senior Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of key engineering parts from both established and new suppliers on a global basis.
Other responsibilities include:
- Managing, measuring and improving supplier performance
- Building meaningful relationships with suppliers ensuring compliance and flexibility in the availability of materials and components
- Negotiating best price without compromising quality of product
- Identifying areas for potential cost savings
- Reviewing and improving lead times
- Sourcing new suppliers where necessary with the aim of continuously improving the supply chain
- Reviewing MRP system to understand stock levels, demand and forecast to ensure continuity of supply; Working across functions to ensure adequate stock is held
- Employing a customer focused approach.
In order to be considered for this position candidates need to have proven purchasing experience gained within an engineering / manufacturing environment thus having a good understanding of mechanical and electrical components. In addition to this candidates must have strong influencing skills and demonstrable experience in building, maintaining and improving supplier relationships on a global basis. Candidates will have managed an MRP / ERP system to ensure adequate and timely supply of materials. It would be advantageous to be CIPS qualified / working towards, or to hold an engineering qualification.
